You Can Get Better

I’ve walked the corridors of OCD, stuck in the claustrophobic pacing of my thoughts. I kept imagining that I’d never get any better. But let me tell you something, dear reader– don’t do that to yourself! Dealing with OCD is already like trying to juggle flaming swords while riding a unicycle. Give yourself some grace. Allow the healing process to do its magic. Harness hope and persistence as your shields, and keep marching forth.

Overcoming my own mindset was akin to scaling the highest mountain peak. I was trapped in the sentiment that I’d forever carry the scars of this mental disorder. Each dawn brought worry, like a shadow tailing my thoughts. Will normalcy ever return? Is this how I’ll always be? Granted, some days the questions were too strong, threatening to drag me down. But let me tell you- don’t give in to this. I fear it made me lose some battles in my journey, casting a somber shadow on my progress.

However, the turning point was accepting OCD and then letting it go. Yes, my friend, OCD will try to steal your peace, but don’t let it. One crucial step to recovery is acknowledging its existence and then living your life regardless. Not by denying it, mind you. That could spiral into an avoidance compulsion. Imagine this – you notice something from the corner of your eye, you glance, and then carry on with your day. That’s how you need to treat OCD. If you’re constantly pondering about OCD, you might be ruminating, which in itself is a compulsion!

I genuinely hope sharing my experiences and strategies lights a spark in those dealing with OCD. I vividly remember feeling lost on my journey, finding solace in the success stories of others. I am excitedly looking forward to this blogging platform facilitating comments. I yearn to get to know you, the reader, to interact and connect with everyone who may stumble upon these words.
